Summer months tend to be a quiet period for corporate activities, but not for us. For one, our webinars are seeing a large attendance even during these months. One of our highest attended free webinars recently was one that we held with SAE International on July 31st about Multiphysics Simulation in Vehicle Applications.
Multiphysics and Vehicle Applications
The field of automotive development and production is a field that indubitably involves working with multiphysics problems. Automotive researchers and designers have to consider nonlinear combinations of structural mechanics, heat transfer, acoustics, chemistry, fluid flow, and electromagnetics when designing automobile parts. During the webinar we held in July, John Dunec, VP of Sales, Northwest USA, spoke about modeling these physics together, and how COMSOL Multiphysics can help. John showed us some automotive simulation examples including manufacturing processes, mold cooling processes, motors and generators, 3D rotating machineries, lead acid batteries and lithium-ion batteries, and mufflers with perforates. There was also a demonstration of how to increase the energy efficiency of cars by optimizing piezoelectric energy harvesters.
I would like to underline something all of our webinars have in common, and that’s the high level of interaction between our speakers and the audience. During our webinars every attendee has the opportunity to type in a question, and after the live event these questions are answered via email. I just love that.
