Heat Source Expanding with time!
I have a model for EDM process in which I need to put an heat source which would be expanding with time. But it shows error if I give time dependent position of a point under boundary conditions. Laser example shows a moving heat source but how can I build a heat source expanding with time???
Thanks

Re: Heat Source Expanding with time!
Hi
if you have a transient solver you can define a function (Model - Definitions - Functions) that depends on the time. If the area is constant you need only to multiply the Heat source flux / power density value by the time, appropriately, but if your surface heating is also expanding with time, you might use a Gaussin function over the coordiates that depends on time.
Note COMSOL has a particular way to normlaise it's default Gaussian function, it's in the help but today, you must still do a search over the help to find the correcct formula

Good luck
