COMSOL, Inc. is seeking an Applications Engineer with a background in Chemical Engineering to join its Palo Alto office. We are seeking an individual with a strong background and experience in numerical simulation involving fluid dynamics, mass transport, heat transfer and chemical reactions. Candidate should have experience in one or more of the following areas such as turbulence modeling (RANS), flow in rotating machinery, multiphase flow (Euler-Euler, phase-field, level set), non-Newtonian flow, surface reactions, mass transport involving dilute and concentrated species (Maxwell-Stefan, mixture-averaged) and electrochemistry. A background in finite element methods or finite volume methods is needed along with experience in multiphysics analysis such as convective cooling or reacting flow.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interact with COMSOL customers in government, industry, and academia.
- Support the usage of COMSOL Multiphysics by addressing technical concerns, providing guidance, advice, and modeling assistance in a wide variety of application areas, particularly those involving heat transfer, structural mechanics, fluid dynamics, acoustics, electromagnetics, and multiphysics modeling.
- Develop models that show features and capabilities of COMSOL Multiphysics.
- Develop and teach training classes.
- Give COMSOL product demonstrations at seminars, workshops, conferences, and meetings with customers.
- Work collaboratively with developers to implement new features and participate in the overall product development of COMSOL Multiphysics.
Requirements:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering, physical sciences, or life sciences.
- Demonstrated experience with computational modeling.
- 10%-20% travel per month.
