COMSOL, Inc. is seeking an Applications Engineer with a background in structural mechanics to join its Palo Alto office. We are seeking an individual with a strong background and experience in numerical simulation involving linear and nonlinear structural mechanics as well as dynamics and vibrations. Candidate should have experience in one or more of the following areas such as modeling contact mechanics, nonlinear material models (plasticity, hyperelastic, viscoelastic, creep, shape memory effect), rigid body dynamics, nonlinear vibrations and fatigue analysis. Additional experience with modeling shells, beams and membranes would also be valuable. A background in finite element methods is needed along with experience in multiphysics analysis such as thermal-structure interaction or fluid-structure interaction.
Primary Responsibilities
- Interact with COMSOL customers in government, industry, and academia.
- Support the usage of COMSOL Multiphysics by addressing technical concerns, providing guidance, advice, and modeling assistance in a wide variety of application areas, particularly those involving heat transfer, structural mechanics, fluid dynamics, acoustics, electromagnetics, and multiphysics modeling.
- Develop models that show features and capabilities of COMSOL Multiphysics.
- Develop and teach training classes.
- Give COMSOL product demonstrations at seminars, workshops, conferences, and meetings with customers.
- Work collaboratively with developers to implement new features and participate in the overall product development of COMSOL Multiphysics.
Requirements:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering, physical sciences, or life sciences.
- Demonstrated experience with computational modeling.
- 10%-20% travel per month.
