Multiphysics Simulation in Medical Device Product Development
Medical device products have numerous challenges due to fast incubation of advanced technology and meeting high expectations on innovative functional needs from end users. Along with this we see complexity of multiple technology or physics influencing each other. From our experience, multiphysics modeling using COMSOL had helped in addressing various needs with in the medical devices industries such as infusion devices, surgical systems, cardiovascular and orthopedic.
This keynote will cover in brief the challenges faced in medical devices product development and how COMSOL has been used as a key multiphysics tool to provide solution. Multiphysics modeling is used at different levels of complexity based on the stage of product development. For example: field failure analysis, cost optimization, concept selection, regulatory validation, etc.
Chandramohan currently heads the Advanced Engineering Group for Medical devices in Mechanical division of HCL Technologies at Chennai. He is responsible for Medical devices CAE practice, which predominantly focuses on simulation needs for cardiovascular, Orthopedic, Infusion systems, Medical disposable, surgical disposable, Neurovascular and other major therapeutical areas. He received his B.Sc in Physics from Madras University and a B.Tech in Automobile from Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) Anna University. He has over 15 years experience in various domains like Medical Devices, Automotive, Aerospace, Consumer electronics and semiconductor in R&D and service organizations.
