    Introduction

    This course is a comprehensive introduction to the Acoustics Module and its usage for the modeling of acoustics and vibration phenomena in the COMSOL Multiphysics environment. You will learn how to use the appropriate interfaces and boundary conditions to model acoustic wave generation, propagation, reflection, transmission, scattering and absorption in different types of media including fluid, solid, porous, piezoelectric devices and pipe systems. Demonstrations include simulations of both fluid and elastic waves with couplings between Pressure Acoustics, Structural Mechanics and Piezoelectricity in addition to the frequency characteristics of an acoustic system. Modal, frequency-response, and transient simulations are covered. This class also covers more advanced topics such as non-destructive testing, aeroacoustics, thermoacoustics and nonlinear acoustics. The add-on modules used in this course are the: Acoustics Module, Structural Mechanics Module, and Pipe Flow Module.

Instructor

Supratik Datta
COMSOL, Inc.

Supratik Datta holds a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from University of Maryland, College Park. He has been involved in research related to cryogenics in biomedical application, damage detection in composites, phase transformation in ferrous alloys and design and non-linear modeling of smart structures. He has received awards from AIAA and ASME for his work on magnetostrictive materials. He is currently working as the Applications Manager in COMSOL, Inc., Palo Alto.

Suggested Background

This course assumes some familiarity with the basic concepts of acoustics and structural dynamics. We strongly recommend that those new to COMSOL Multiphysics take the COMSOL Multiphysics Intensive Training course prior to attending this class.

Course Hours

The hours for all COMSOL courses are from 9:00am to 5:00pm; please plan to check in between 8:30am and 9:00am. Lunch and refreshments during the morning and afternoon breaks are included.

Cancellation Policy

Please note that your seat in the course can not be confirmed until payment or a formal purchase order have been received.

Instructor-led training tuition is fully refundable if we receive written notification (via mail or e-mail) of cancellation on or before seven business days prior to the class. Cancellations made less than seven business days prior to class will be charged 25 percent of the course tuition fee. If you fail to show up to class without written notice, you will be charged the full tuition. You may send a substitute in your place to avoid a fee.

If a training course cannot take place as scheduled due to circumstances beyond COMSOL's control, we will issue a full refund for the amount that you have already paid.
