Content
This free workshop demonstrates the use of COMSOL Multiphysics to model low and high frequency electromagnetic components and devices. The
AC/DC Module and
RF Module bring easy-to-use tools for the study of electromagnetics phenomena. Among other things, COMSOL Multiphysics gives you the tools to simulate:
- AC/DC current and field distribution
- EMC and shielding
- EM forces and torque
- Insulators, capacitators and dielectrics
- (Electro)magnets
- Transformers, inducers
- Resistive and induced heating
- Antennas
- Microwave devices
Intro to COMSOL Multiphysics
with Live Demos
The first part of the workshop will provide an overview of AC/DC modeling and electromagnetic wave modeling (RF) using COMSOL Multiphysics. Topics covered will include modeling of resistive, capacitive and inductive components including calculating lumped electrical parameters in finite element-based electromagnetic models as well as modeling of antenna and waveguide. We will also discuss about related multiphysics phenomena such as Joule heating, inductive heating, microwave heating and thermal expansion effects. We will set up and solve a few illustrative problems.
Hands-on Tutorial

The second half of the workshop is a hands-on tutorial in COMSOL Multiphysics Version 4.3b. During this session you will get a chance to work through one or more tutorial problems drawn from the above topics. These tutorial problems are designed to make participants quickly proficient in COMSOL Multiphysics Version 4.3b, enabling you to model your own problems with the included two week trial.
Come and experience the power and efficiency of COMSOL Multiphysics!
Intended Audience
This workshop provides an introduction to COMSOL Multiphysics. It is intended for new as well as existing COMSOL software users who would like to get acquainted with the modeling of electromagnetic phenomena in COMSOL Multiphysics.
