Content
Structural mechanics simulations of today are shifting into high gear. Every element of a design must be carefully considered, notably when it comes to evaluating substantial and complex structural deformations.
The
Structural Mechanics,
Nonlinear Structural Materials,
Geomechanics and
Fatique Modules from COMSOL Multiphysics are dedicated tools for performing a wide range of analysis types where it is necessary to examine mechanical and structural deformations.

Application areas:
- Non-linear materials
- (Thermo-)electromechanical devices
- Fluid-structure interaction (FSI)
- Acoustic-structure interaction
- Piezoelectric effects
- Multiphysics contact
- Buckling analysis
- Stress-optical effects
- Thermal-structural interaction
Intro to COMSOL Multiphysics
with Live Demos
The first half of the workshop provides an overview of COMSOL Multiphysics: its capabilities, new features, enhanced functionality, and revamped graphical user interface. We will show a gallery of example models in the fields of structural mechanics as well as set up and solve a few illustrative problems.
Hands-on Session

The second half of the workshop is a hands-on tutorial in COMSOL Multiphysics Version 4.3b. During this session you will get a chance to work through one or more tutorial problems related to structural mechanics. These tutorial problems are designed to make participants quickly proficient in COMSOL Multiphysics Version 4.3b, enabling you to model your own problems with the included two week trial.
Come and experience the power and efficiency of COMSOL Multiphysics!
Intended Audience
This workshop provides an introduction to COMSOL Multiphysics. It is intended for new as well as existing COMSOL software users who would like to get acquainted with the mechanical capabilities of the COMSOL modeling environment.
