Content
Transport phenomena are extensively used in a range of engineering disciplines. Although the most typical examples of a transport analysis are found in the fields of process, chemical, and mechanical engineering, transport phenomena are a key component in all disciplines involved in any way with mass transfer, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
Application Areas:
- Non-isothermal flow, conjugent heat transfer
- Sedimentation, emulsions, suspensions
- Fluidized beds and sprays
- Cyclones, filters
- Electronic cooling
- Gas bubble flow
- Heat exchange
Intro to COMSOL Multiphysics
with Live Demos
The first half of the workshop will provide an overview of the
CFD Module and the
Chemical Reaction Engineering Module. In particular, we will focus on how these modules can be used to model fluid flow, heat and mass transfer problems, including chemical reactions. We will show a gallery of example models as well as set up and solve a few illustrative problems.
Hands-on Session

The second half is a hands-on tutorial in COMSOL Multiphysics Version 4.3b. During this session you will get a chance to work through one or more tutorial problems related to transport phenomena. These tutorial problems are designed to make participants quickly proficient in COMSOL Mutliphysics Version 4.3b, enabling you to model your own problems with the included two week trial.
Come and experience the power and efficiency of COMSOL Multiphysics!
Intended Audience
This workshop provides an introduction to COMSOL Multiphysics. It is intended for new as well as existing COMSOL software users who would like to get acquainted with modeling mass and energy transport problems.
