Improved Temperature Standards Using COMSOL Multiphysics

This paper describes the use of COMSOL Multiphysics to evaluate the propagation of the liquid-solid interface in fixed point crucibles, and the resulting temperature distribution throughout the system as the phase transition progresses.

This enables a robust identification of the features of the melting curve corresponding to physical phenomena such as the liquidus point, and also enhances the design process, allowing precise optimisation of fixed point crucibles.
