Mathematical Modeling of Autoregulation using Finite-Element Method

In this presentation, cerebral blood flow (CBF) is modeled using a mathematical model, a statistical model and numerical examples. In the mathematical model, blood flow is described using Navier-Stokes equations. In the statistical model, the experiments or the data measurement process is simulated and to study how the noise in the measurements affects the ability to estimate the parameters, numerical examples are formulated in which the elasticity of the artery is considered to have a non homogeneous profile.

Keynote speaker's biography:

Aleksandar Jeremic received his BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Belgrade in 1995, and MSc and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois in Chicago, in 1997. and 2002., respectively under the guidance of Prof. Arye Nehorai. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada. His research interests are biomedical modeling, statistical signal processing, and medical visualization.
