Simulation for Thermomechanical Behavior of Shape Memory Alloys (SMA) using COMSOL Multiphysics

The Finite Element Method (FEM) is applied for numerical analysis of a Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) beam fixed at both the ends, using a thermodyanamic constitutive model

The wire is heated through resistive heating by providing controlled potential at the ends of the beam.

Results show that the beam tends to return to its original position and the curvature of the beam is simulated.
