Vibration Analysis - Gullfaks C Knock Out Drum

An eigenvalue as well as a harmonic response analysis is performed on the Gullfaks C, Knock Out Drum (KOD) including some of the connecting pipe systems. The vibration behavior of two new choke valves and their specific connection to the KOD are of special interest.

The main concern is the low frequency induced vibration as a consequence of the platform movements. A frequency band between 0-20 Hz has been investigated. The eigenvalue analysis shows that in the low frequency band (0-10 Hz), the vibration amplitudes are dominated from the large-diameter pipes. In the band 10-17 Hz, the dominant vibration amplitudes are expected at the 6 and 8 inch pipes.
