Numerical simulations can well predict the electric current and temperature distribution in GaN-based LED chips. It can be used to improve the device design and optimization of the LED devices. Future work will include the optical modeling to analyze the optical properties of the LED chip in order to reduce the absorption of light and increase the optical extraction efficiency.
