What is Multiphysics?
The aim of the science of physics is to understand the structure of the natural world and explain natural phenomena.
There is one precise way to present the laws of physics and that is by means of differential equations. When the selection of the laws of physics is taken from different fields of applied physics, the model is said to be a multiphysics model.
This introductory animation will introduce you to the concept of multiphysics, and the place it has in simulating engineering designs and processes.

Modeling Multiphysics Applications
The multiphysics modeling process includes a selection of the appropriate laws of physics, the model set-up, solution, verification, and validation of your model. Each time you solve the differential equations, you learn something new about the characteristics of the solution, and then gain a true understanding of the equations and the phenomenon they describe.
In this animation, we will briefly introduce you to how the model set-up and solution of the model equations can be done with COMSOL Multiphysics. We will exemplify the use of the laws of physics by solving a model that estimates the temperature of a heat sink at a given heating power, and the influence that has on thermal expansion.
