Using the Structure Mechanics Module in the classroom

This field's proud history and tradition of finite element analysis means there is a vast font of knowledge from which to tap. Leveraging this work, the Structural Mechanics Module provides a tool for fundamental structural mechanics and multiphysics applications:
- Easy-to-use application modes — Students immediately feel familiar with the interfaces for modeling structural phenomena including things from basic beam and shell elements to state-of-the-art material models such as in piezoelectric applications
- Multiphysics modeling—Seamless integration with COMSOL Multiphysics and its auxiliary modules allows for unlimited multiphysics modeling. In-built modeling interfaces for applications such as thermal-structure interaction and fluid-structure interaction allow students to concentrate on the phenomena rather than the modeling
- Standard interfaces—One uniform modeling environment for COMSOL Multiphysics and the other auxiliary modules makes it easy to demonstrate various applications of FEA to students
- Material Library — A large library of over 20,000 material properties is available for use with this module
