Piezo-Acoustic Transducer
People that use piezoelectric transducers are interested in phased-array microphone, ultrasound equipment, ink-jet drop actuators, drug discovery, Sonar transducers, bio-imaging and acousto-bio-theraputics. Basically anyone who is trying to create sound in air or liquids turns to a version of this problem. How does a piezoelectric crystal plate fit into the structure of an array? The array begins as a series of stacked layers that are then cut into rows. The cut-space is called a 'kerf' and the rows are repeated with a periodicity or pitch. This model simulates one of the rows.
This examples shows how to couple piezoelectric vibrations in a transducer to an acoustics pressure wave in a fluid such as air or water. The physics involved are: * Piezoelectric stress-strain * An electric field * Pressure acoustics in a fluid
