Diffusion of Gas Through a Reinforced 3D Membrane
Model ID: 174

In this example, we study the diffusion of a chemical species through a membrane. The system is used to measure the permeability of gases in membranes. The permeability of the membrane is measured by introducing the species of interest in a carrier gas on one side of the membrane and the pure carrier gas on the other side of the membrane. In this model, the initial flux in the membrane is studied, which corresponds to the largest difference in concentration between the two chambers on the different sides of the membrane.

Diffusion of Gas Through a Reinforced 3D Membrane The figure shows the concentration of the diffusing species along the thickness of the membrane. In this plot, we can see that the membrane reinforcement disturbs the path of the diffusion through the membrane.
