Mie Scattering off Plasmonic Nanoparticle and Radar Cross-Section Computations

This model demonstrates one of the most basic applications of the RF module: calculations of the differential scattering cross-section, as well as total cross-sections, including absorption, scattering, extinction and radar cross-sections.

It also illustrates the use of symmetry planes in electromagnetic simulations, as well as COMSOL’s Scattered-field Formulation, Perfectly Matched Layers, Swept Meshing and Far-Field integrals.

The model makes use of user-defined frequency-dependent optical properties of metals. The results are benchmarked against the exact Mie scattering theory.
