RF Introductory Tutorial: Step by Step Modeling of a Coil
This is an introductory tutorial that shows how to model RF coils using COMSOL. RF coils are important in numerous applications ranging from wireless technology to MRI scanning equipment.
This examples demonstrates the different modeling steps that are important when analyzing RF coils: finding the natural resonant frequencies of the coil, tuning of the coil using lumped circuit element capacitors, and computing S-parameters and Q-factors.
Features shown:
- Lumped ports
- Circuit ports
- Q-factor
- Surface current losses
- Coil tuning
- Two communicating coils
