H-bend Waveguide with S-parameters
This is a model of a waveguide, a device used to conduct electromagnetic waves in the microwave range. The purpose is to calculate how well a TE10 wave propagates through a bend in a waveguide filled with a dielectric medium.
This is done by calculating the scattering parameters, or S-parameters, of the waveguide bend as a function of the frequency, for the fundamental TE10 mode. The S-parameters are a measure of the transmittance and reflectance of the waveguide bend. The plot is an in-built feature in the RF Module.

The figure shows the S-parameters as a function of frequency. The S11 parameter corresponding to the reflectance is given by the curve with plus sign markers. The S21 parameter, corresponding to the transmittance, is given by the curve with the circlular markers. The resonances at 4.6 GHz, 5.3 GHz, and 6.0 GHz are the cavity resonances of the dielectric region in the bend. |
