The book presents in a clear and concise manner the fundamentals of chemical reaction engineering. A structure is developed that allows the student to solve reaction engineering problems through reasoning rather than through memorization and recall of numerous equations, restrictions and conditions under which each equation applies. In this fourth edition there is an emphasis throughout on bioreaction engineering and this edition contains more industrial chemistry with real reactors and real reactions and extends the wide range of applications to which chemical reaction engineering principles can be applied (i.e., cobra bites, medications, ecological engineering).
About the Author
H. Scott Fogler is Vennema Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan. His research interests include flow and reaction in porous media, fused chemical relations, gellation kinetics, colloidal phenomena, and catalyzed dissolution. Fogler has chaired ASEE's Chemical Engineering Division, served as director of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and earned the Chemical Manufacturers Association's National Catalyst Award.
