Commercial Sales Engineer/Account Manager

As part of our continued growth and sustained vision to be a leader in our sector, COMSOL is seeking a full-time Commercial Sales Engineers/Account Managers to join our Cambridge based team and help drive continued growth of our UK business. The COMSOL Multiphysics® software is used by scientists and engineers worldwide, to solve physical problems in their research, design, and development work.

You will be responsible for growing COMSOL’s revenue from both new and existing accounts within a defined territory, for commercial organizations in the UK and Ireland. This challenging role will require you to balance a range of responsibilities including developing both new accounts and existing accounts development. You will be part of a sales team that is supported by a talented team of applications and marketing specialists.

Primary responsibilities

  • Actively identify, develop and expand the sales of COMSOL’s existing and new range of Multiphysics software to commercial organizations within the UK & Ireland
  • Proactive selling – identify and develop new leads and new potential accounts through conferences, exhibitions, LinkedIn etc and conduct market research and initial contacts.
  • Create and deliver presentations with the support of the technical team at public seminars, customer-sites and professional conferences
  • Maintain regular contact with existing customers through phone calls, onsite presentations and workshops

  • Achieve personal sales targets for the nominated accounts within a defined territories
  • Work closely with other members of the commercial sales team and the Commercial Sales Team Manager.
  • Work closely with technical team at both pre and post sales stages to provide technical support to potential customers
  • To develop and process all sales opportunities in CRM system and to qualify them accordingly
  • To document all account activities in CRM system
  • To ensure that all opportunity profiles are always up to date in the CRM system to capture and progress, and to provide accurate sales forecasts
  • To organize and host customer meetings, demonstrations, and workshops to promote our software solutions.


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, business or a related area.
  • Ideally with B2B technical sales and/or account management experience for 1 to 2 years.
  • Confident communicator and strong interpersonal skills
  • Keen interest in sales and working in a sales environment
  • Strong written skills with attention to details.
  • Interest in the high-tech industry.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to balance different tasks
  • Self-motivated and quick learning with a flexible nature.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
