The ever-increasing performance demands on modern electric motors have prompted extensive efforts to lower noise and vibration in motors and improve their efficiency and power density. Manufacturers also have to conform to strict regulatory standards for noise pollution caused by motors.

During this webinar, we will discuss the noise generated by electromagnetic sources in motors and how this can be modeled in COMSOL Multiphysics®. We will talk about the energy flow that originates from electromagnetic phenomena and ends in acoustic pressure waves that are transmitted to the surroundings. In addition, we will discuss how engineers can predict and reduce noise levels in motors and how the motor design can be optimized via numerical simulation.
