hi all,


does anybody know how to generate a standing wave in comsol?

Hi Hamid,

This is the expression you need for the standing wave.

E0*(exp(-i*emw.k0*x)+exp(i*emw.k0*x)), E0 is the magnitude of the Electric field, i.e., E0= 1[V/m]. You should define it in the parameter.

Click on the physics, i.e, "Electromagnetic Waves, Frequency Domain." Then setting, and change the option from Full Wave into Scattering Wave. Finally, make the background electric field into "User defined," and add the expression into one of the three options (x,y, or z) based on the incident wave polarization.
