Euler-Euler model with phase change

I am trying to model a pipe flow with a two phase system (liquid water - vapour) and I want to implement, among other variables, an evaporation term to the continuity equation to model the change between liquid and gaseous phase. Now my question is : should I start defining my own PDEs with the mathematics module (PDE interfaces) or is there an easier way to edit the existing euler euler model?
