Moving laser

Hi, all,

I just begin studying laser heating simulation in terms of a moving laser hitting on a block. I used a laser with 100W and spot size 1mm on Iron. The laser moves along one direction (0-14mm in 5s ). laser is defined as P*gp1(x-wv1(t))*gp1(y).

After running the simulation, I find that the highest temperature is rising while moving forward. For instance, at 0s and x=0, the highest temperature is around 700K while at 5s and x=14mm, the highest temperature is about 900K. If I increase the laser intensity or moving distance, this temperature difference will be even larger.

I know there might be some sort of heat accumulation during the heating process but I didn't expect to see such high temperature difference. The highest temperature should be on the same level. So what happened here?

Thanks,
Xing
