Reflection Problem in Time Domain Simulation

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I am simulating a bowtie antenna in time domain simulation in RF module. My operating frequency is 10 GHz. Therefore operating wavelength is 30 mm.

Antenna dimension is around 27 mm (including with a gap 4.5 mm in between). Thickness of the antenna is 0.1 mm. The Air-box surrounding the antenna having dimension (60 mm, 60 mm, 60 mm). I am using SBC for plane wave propagation (along z direction). I have used (SBC,PEC and PMC) for my boundary conditions.

However, in the gap, my E-field seems to be unstable (attached) or seems to have standing pattern wave shape whereas it should be pure sinusoidal shape. I would like to know why the E-field is unstable? Is the problem due to the reflection from the boundary or there is something else i need to take care of?

PS: I posted the question before but didn't get solution to it so posting it again. I really appreciate your help here.
