Time-dependent solver, Direct or Iterative?

while solving a 3D model in AC/DC module with time-dependent solver I get two different result when choosing "Direct" or "Iterative". I'm thinking the results from "iterative" is not correct but I don't know why these two strategies have different outcomes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's the main difference between those two and how should it be chosen based on our model?
