indentation on viscoelastic material

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I am trying to simulate a sphere indenter applied on a viscoelastic material and the result is not obviously correct.

First of all, the indentor should be normal to the applied surface since the pressure is normal.

Second, the line plot shows a sharp dip at the center, instead I expect the material deforms according to the tip geometry.

By the way, I don't know how to incorporate the viscosity term although for static simulation it doesn't seem to matter.

The attached files are the Comsol model and screen shot of the result.

Thanks.
