Plasma Arc

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I am trying to model an electric arc in a simple chamber, where a current I= 100A passes through the anode rail, the cathode rail, and air arc plasma. I initialized a plasma cylinder in the middle of the chamber where I imposed a temperature of 10000[K] to let the current passes through. I also tried to add a radiation heat source for air plasma to compensate the Joule heating. I don’t have plasma module, so I define the net coefficient emission of air as a function of temperature in Definition, and add this radiation source in heat transfer module.
When I solve the model, I got an error message:

- Feature: Stationary Solver 1 (sol1/s1) Failed to find a solution. In Segregated Step 1: Divergence of the linear iterations. Returned solution is not converged.

Any help or hints to find the problem and get me started in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much in advance.

Sincerely,

Jessica ALMURR.
