[comsol 3.5a] Radiative surface to surface exchange

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello to all
I have a problem with a thermal analysis.I have a 3D geometry and i must analyze a transient situation with radiative exchange between surfaces. I have read pdf help and i found some useful advices but in 2D geometry. I understood that i must pay attention with group assignment, for this reason i started using only five surfaces with surface to surface radiative exchange but the solver went in out of memory during assembly with error 6188. I made a transient analysis because i want to discover the T gradient in the instrument.
I don't find where is my mistake.
Thank you in advance

Luca

Hi!

I have exactly the same problem in my simulation. I also want to carry out a transient analysis of a 3D piezoeletric solid and the error 6188 appears "Out of memory during assembly". I have 4 205 796 degrees of freedom to be solved. I am wondering if these are to much dofs to solve for Comsol 3.5, because I have launched the same simulation in ANSYS 11, in the same computer, and I had no problems.

If you find a solution for your problem, please let me know since it might work for me too. I have no idea how to solve the problem.

Thanks,
Mar

Hi

do you have the same number of DoF in ANSYS ?
as 4.2MDoF means a lot of RAM

Good luck
