EM excitation in an inner port

Hi,
I am working on a simulation where I need to excite a wave in an inner port of the model, however, I need the wave to osccilate between two external ports which are on the either side of the internal port. However, when I do that with "Activate slit condition on interior port" ticked, the wave doesn't propagate across the port to the other side. Could someone kindly suggest a method to overcome this? Even a different approach than specifying an internal port is also fine.
