Beam cross sections

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I'm trying to model a 2D structure composed of beam elements. I have to choose a rectangular cross-section. The thickness in plane chosen is 4 mm whereas the thickness in the z direction is much greater and is of 205 mm. I would like to know if it is numerically correct and reasonable to have such a difference between the two dimensions? Is there a certain ratio to respect while choosing a cross-section for the beam elements? If yes, what's the limitation?

Thank you in advance.
