Scattering of light due to transparent object in air

Hello, My mission is to simulate a scattering experiment of a small laser beam by a 100micron object in air. The object is transparent and has a refractive index gradient. Is this possible in Comsol software?

Thanks, Ivan

Mr. Ivan

Hi

I'm not a COMSOL advisor, however I think it can be done depending on the detailed conditions.

In the case of a refractive index with a gradient, I think it is necessary to define the refractive index information of the material using a function.

With this software, you can specify arbitrary functions or import data sources to generate interpolation functions, so you need to use those techniques.

The following gallery models may be helpful to you.
