Mass transport and moving mesh

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I am trying to simulate the mass transport inside a cylinder (transient analysis)

In particular there is a flow from the inlet to the outlet of the system and a reaction at the inner wall of the cylinder. Because of the reaction (enzymatic reaction) the wall moves toward the center of the cylinder.

To solve this system (half system due to the symmetry) I used the following equation:

Fluid flow --> incompressible Navier-Stokes equation

Mass transport --> Convection and Diffusion equation with Weak form boundary equation to take into account the reaction

Wall displacement --> Moving mesh, the wall velocity depends on the concentration on the wall.

I have some problems on the convergence, I am not able to get results if I solved all the equations. I tried to modify the mesh, change solver, but anything seems to work.

Thank you for your help,

Enrico
