switch to 64bit - new licence required???

Hello, my question is not very physical but nevertheless i need a good answer urgently..
It is about our Comsol licence:
As we want to simulate a large geometrical probem we are running out of memory at the moment.
So we are planning to install a 64-bit windows system on our computer to make fully use of our 4GB memory capacity. But now we are afraid that if we install a 64bit windows on our computer, comsol might no longer work because our licence is limited to only one computer. Thus the licence might also be limited to our current windows system only...

Does anyone have an idee if this is true???

You should contact COMSOL directly about this issue. I could guess or speculate, but that would not be appropriate.

Hi,

There is no relationship between the OS (32/64bit) and the license that you are using. It can be used for both systems and for different OS (Win/Linux/Mac).

Hi

probably, but depending on the licence you have it's either floating or "motherboard locked", any how, the best is to discuss with your support or retailer

Note that while COMSOL employees may participate in the discussion forum, COMSOL® software users who are on-subscription should submit their questions via the Support Center for a more comprehensive response from the Technical Support team.
