The Application Gallery features COMSOL Multiphysics® tutorial and demo app files pertinent to the electrical, structural, acoustics, fluid, heat, and chemical disciplines. You can use these examples as a starting point for your own simulation work by downloading the tutorial model or demo app file and its accompanying instructions.

Search for tutorials and apps relevant to your area of expertise via the Quick Search feature. To download the MPH-files, log in or create a COMSOL Access account that is associated with a valid COMSOL license. Note that many of the examples featured here can also be accessed via the Application Libraries that are built into the COMSOL Multiphysics® software and available from the File menu.

Lumped Loudspeaker Driver

This is a model of a moving-coil loudspeaker where a lumped parameter analogy represents the behavior of the electrical and mechanical speaker components. The Thiele-Small parameters (small-signal parameters) serve as input to the lumped model, which is represented by an Electric Circuit ... Read More

OW Microspeaker: Simulation and Correlation with Measurements

This model analyzes the electromagnetic, mechanical, and acoustical characteristics of the OWS-1943T-8CP (discontinued) speaker. Beside certain details, the geometry, material properties, and measurements are copyright by Ole Wolff. Starting from the geometry of the speaker, an ... Read More

Loudspeaker Driver in a Vented Enclosure

This model of a boxed loudspeaker lets you apply a nominal driving voltage and extract the resulting sound pressure level in the outside room as a function of the frequency. The sensitivity, both on-axis and spatial, is determined as function of frequency. These are some of the most ... Read More

Generic 711 Coupler — An Occluded Ear-Canal Simulator

This is the model of an occluded ear canal simulator (a generic 711 coupler). Besides certain details the geometry corresponds to the Brüel & Kjær Ear Simulator Type 4157. The real life couplers are used for simulating the acoustics of a standardized human ear canal and can be used for ... Read More

Helmholtz Resonator Analyzed with Different Frequency Domain Solvers

This model simulates a simple three-dimensional axisymmetric Helmholtz resonator, a classic acoustics model of a resonating circuit with a known theoretical solution. The idealized version considered here consists of a tube and a closed volume in series which are exposed to a pulsatile ... Read More

The Brüel & Kjær 4134 Condenser Microphone

This is a model of the Brüel and Kjær 4134 condenser microphone. The geometry and material parameters are those of the actual microphone. The modeled sensitivity level is compared to measurements performed on an actual microphone and shows good agreement. The membrane deformation, ... Read More

Acoustic Cloaking

This example demonstrates how to use a background field in a sound scattering problem. The application is an acoustic invisibility cloak made of a metamaterial. Two different types of metamaterials are used, one using an anisotropic acoustic material with varying properties and one using ... Read More

Submarine Scattering: Time-Domain Simulation and FFT

This model analyzes the scattering of a plane propagating modulated Gaussian pulse off a submarine hull. The scattered field and the spatial response are also determined. The model uses the *Pressure Acoustics, Time Explicit* interface to model this large acoustic model in the time ... Read More

Photoacoustic Resonator

This is a model of a simple photoacoustic (or optoacoustic) resonator. A pulsating laser heats a gas causing expansion and contraction and thus creates pressure waves. Such devices are used as sensors for measuring material parameters of the gas inside the resonator. The resonance ... Read More

Acoustic Reflections off a Water-Sediment Interface

This model determines the reflection coefficient of plane acoustic waves, at different frequencies and at different angles of incidence, off a water-sediment interface. The ability of the Poroelasitc Waves interface to model the coupled acoustic and elastic wave in any porous substance ... Read More
