We released our first modeling product, the PDE Toolbox, in 1995. In 1998 we published the first version of our flagship product, COMSOL Multiphysics® (initially called FEMLAB®). In subsequent years, our product line was expanded to include a suite of discipline-specific add-on modules for Structural Mechanics, Chemical Engineering, Hi and Low Frequency Electromagnetics, Heat Transfer, MEMS, Earth Science, Acoustics, and more. We also added modules for importing and exporting CAD drawings and a Material Properties Library to simplify modeling and simulation real world phenomena. With the release of version 3.2 in September of 2005, we introduced our own script language for technical computing, COMSOL Script®.

COMSOL Script is compatible with MATLABŪ to a significant degree. Since then we have added Script based products for Optimization, Signal Processing and Parameter Estimation, and for modeling and simulation of Chemical Reactions.

Our Goal

  • To develop easy-to-use software for modeling and simulation of real world multiphysics systems.
  • To assist our users in getting the most out of our products.
  • To sustain and reinforce COMSOL's position as a leading provider and developer of technical computing software.
  • To make our technology the primary tool for engineers, researchers and lecturers within the fields of education and hi-tech product design.

Customers

Our customers are researchers and engineers working for leading technical enterprises, research labs, and universities. Our products help them design and develop high-tech products. Our customers make our cars and aircrafts safer and more energy efficient, they enhance the reception to our cell phones, they search for new energy sources, explore the universe, develop medical equipment enabling more accurate diagnosis, and they educate the next generation of scientists.
