How to specify the approaching direction when plotting on edges presenting field discontinuity?

Hello,

in the attached picture you can see the a high voltage conducting cable producing an electric field. The field has some value in air and correctly drops to zero as soon as we enter the conductor.

The problems arise when collecting the field in a 1D line plot looping around the wire. If I select the wire edges, I get something that seems to be about a half of the expected field. I guess it is making an average between the inside and the outside of the wire.

So far I have been doing this by manually inserting additional features in the geometry (eg thin shells) only for plotting, is there any smarter way to specify the approaching direction?

Great thanks!
