for extrusion coupling, use layers or different geometries? in COMSOL4.0

AC/DC
In comsol 3.5, I use 2 different geometries in 2D and use extrusion coupling to obtain the voltage, resulting from the properties of the 2 2D objects.

In 4.0, I see that there are layers. My question here is

can extrusion coupling be used for objects in different layers?

Or is it better to use different geometries for extrusion coupling?

Actually , I will also need to understand how to use extrusion coupling in 4.0....

Struggle...strugggle

Thanks
