Pharmacokinetic Model of an Eye

When evaluating the efficacy of treatments for ocular diseases, modeling and simulation can be used for pharmacokinetic analysis by visualizing drug concentration and how it spreads through the eye over time. In this simplified pharmacokinetic model of a human eye, a small patch is applied on the eye’s surface. In the choroid, the blood flow is described using the Brinkman equations and the transport of chemical species is through diffusion and convection. Elsewhere in the eye, chemical species transport is through diffusion.
