Electric Racing Is Multiphysics

Formula E is the world's premier electric motorsport Championship, where high-performance race cars are developed under some of the most demanding technical conditions in motorsport.

In electric racing, no system operates in isolation. Physical effects and components such as batteries, motors, thermal management, structures, aerodynamics, and acoustics all interact — and changes in one area can influence another.

As the Official Multiphysics Partner, COMSOL will work with Formula E to investigate complex technical challenges and explore new ways to apply simulation across the Championship.

40 Years of Multiphysics Simulation

For over 40 years, COMSOL has helped engineers and researchers understand complex physics interactions, solve challenging design problems, and develop innovative technologies. The COMSOL Multiphysics® software provides a unified environment for modeling electromagnetics, heat transfer, structural mechanics, fluid flow, acoustics, chemical processes, and more, with multiphysics coupling built in so engineers can study how interacting physical effects shape real-world behavior.

Beyond detailed multiphysics models, COMSOL supports system-level modeling, AI-assisted workflows, and simulation app and digital twin solutions that make physics-based insight accessible to more people. Through the Formula E partnership, these tools come together in a new environment: electric racing.
