COMSOL está buscando una persona Ingeniera de Aplicaciones (Bilingüe - Español) para unirse al Departamento de Aplicaciones y brindar soporte técnico preventas y postventas a las personas usuarias del software COMSOL®, principalmente en los mercados de América Latina. La persona seleccionada debe contar con una sólida formación en ingeniería o ciencias aplicadas, así como experiencia en la simulación de aplicaciones técnicas. A partir de esta base, se espera que amplíe su conocimiento técnico en nuevas áreas de la ciencia y la ingeniería, ayudando a las personas usuarias de COMSOL a simular sus futuras innovaciones e ideas. También debe poder comunicarse en español de manera clara y profesional en contextos científicos y de ingeniería, tanto de forma oral como escrita.

Responsabilidades principales

Calificación de prospectos y soporte preventa

• Demostrar simulaciones claras y comprensibles para posibles clientes —principalmente en América Latina y algunas en América del Norte— en una o más de las siguientes áreas: electromagnetismo, dinámica de fluidos, transferencia de calor y masa, o mecánica estructural.
• Demostrar el uso del software COMSOL® y presentar sus funcionalidades en talleres virtuales, eventos de ventas y marketing, y reuniones con personas clientas, principalmente en español, aunque también en inglés.
• Disposición y capacidad para viajar por períodos cortos a distintos países de América Latina para coordinar eventos y actividades patrocinadas por COMSOL.

Soporte técnico postventas

• Brindar soporte técnico en el uso del software COMSOL® en diversas aplicaciones multifísicas en las áreas mencionadas.
• Identificar y participar en nuevas oportunidades de ventas dentro de organizaciones existentes, ya sea con los mismos usuarios del software, colegas de la compañía o en otros departamentos.

Capacitación y mentoría

• Desarrollar habilidades técnicas en simulación atendiendo casos de ventas y soporte de manera autónoma y en colaboración con el equipo de ingeniería de aplicaciones.
• Impartir cursos introductorios de COMSOL Multiphysics.
• Brindar acompañamiento, capacitación y orientación a nuevas personas ingenieras de aplicaciones, gestoras técnicas de cuentas e ingenieras de ventas en el uso del software COMSOL® en diversas áreas de aplicación.

Requisitos mínimos

• Título de maestría en ingeniería mecánica, ingeniería eléctrica, física/física aplicada, matemáticas aplicadas o disciplinas similares en ciencias físicas.
• Excelentes habilidades de comunicación en reuniones virtuales, presenciales y por escrito. Se requiere fluidez en español técnico y científico.
• Autorización vigente para trabajar en los Estados Unidos. No se ofrece patrocinio de visa para este puesto.
• Disponibilidad para trabajar de forma presencial en oficina.

Requisitos deseables

• Doctorado en ingeniería mecánica, ingeniería eléctrica, física/física aplicada, matemáticas aplicadas u otra disciplina relacionada.
• Experiencia en métodos numéricos como análisis por elementos finitos (FEA), dinámica de fluidos computacional (CFD), electromagnetismo computacional y dominio de software de simulación física como COMSOL u otros similares.
• Experiencia previa en atención o contacto directo con personas clientas es un plus.

Be a Part of Simulating Future Innovations and Ideas


COMSOL is seeking an Applications Engineer (Bilingual Spanish) to join its Applications Department to work with pre-sales and post-sales support of users of the COMSOL® software, primarily in the LATAM markets. As the successful applicant, you are expected to have a well-rounded education within an engineering or scientific discipline and experience with simulating technical applications. With this basis, you will be expected to develop your technical proficiency in new areas of science and engineering as you help COMSOL’s users simulate their future innovations and ideas. You are also expected to be able to speak and write in Spanish in an engineering/scientific setting.

Primary Responsibilities

Pre-Sales Leads Qualification and Prospect Support

• Demonstrate the building of clear and understandable simulation examples for prospective customers, primarily those in Latin America but also some in North America, on simulations of their applications, primarily in one or multiple of the areas of electromagnetics, fluid flow, heat and mass transfer or structural mechanics.
• Demonstrate use of the COMSOL® software and summarize its features in web-based workshops and other marketing and sales events, along with customer meetings, primarily in Spanish but also in English.
• A willingness and ability to travel for limited periods of time to current and potential customers in order to run COMSOL-sponsored events and activities, primarily in Latin America.

Post-Sales Technical Support

• Support customers on use of the COMSOL® software for a variety of multiphysics applications in one or multiple areas of electromagnetics, fluid flow, heat and mass transfer or structural mechanics.
• Initiate and participate in subsequent sales opportunities to existing customers or their colleagues and other departments of existing customers.

Training and Mentoring

• Develop your technical and simulation knowledge and abilities through working with sales and support cases both independently and in cooperation with other applications engineers.
• Run introductory training courses of COMSOL Multiphysics.
• Develop and mentor new applications engineers, technical account managers, and sales engineers on the COMSOL® software and its uses in certain application areas.

Minimum Qualifications

• A master’s in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics/applied physics, applied mathematics, or similar physical science majors.
• Excellent communication skills on video meetings, in person, and in writing. Fluency in Spanish for scientific/engineering and related communications is required.
• Current eligibility to work in the U.S. Employment-based visa sponsorship will not be offered for this position.
• This is an in-office position.

Preferred Qualifications

• A PhD in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics/applied physics, applied mathematics, or similar physical science majors.
• Knowledge and experience of numerical methods such as finite element analysis (FEA) in structural analysis, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), computational electromagnetics and proficiency in physics-based simulation software such as COMSOL or similar are strongly preferred.
• Prior experience in a customer-facing role is a plus.
