Transition Flow through Microchannel

This model simulates transition flow through a microchannel using the Transition Flow interface in COMSOL Multiphysics®, which solves the Boltzmann BGK equation. The analysis is carried out to understand the fluid flow behavior across five different pore-length (porosity) configurations, examining velocity contours and Knudsen-number distributions in each case.

The COMSOL simulation results are validated against Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) data from Wu, X., Guo, Y., Pan, X. and Yang, Z., 2024. The direct Monte Carlo simulation of microchannel flows for a large Knudsen number range. Physics of Fluids, 36(2).

The model results show good agreement with the DSMC data from Wu, Xiaosheng, et al., validating the accuracy of the Transition Flow interface for rarefied gas flow in microchannels.
