Applications Engineer (multiple positions)

COMSOL is seeking an Applications Engineer to join its Applications and Pre-sales team in the Sales department to work with pre-sales and post-sales support of users of the COMSOL® software.

As a successful applicant, you are expected to have a well-rounded education within an engineering or scientific discipline and experience with simulating technical applications. With this basis, you will be expected to develop your technical proficiency in new areas of science and engineering as you help COMSOL’s users simulate their future innovations and ideas.

Primary Responsibilities

Post-Sales Technical Support
• Support prospects and customers on how to use the COMSOL® software for their specific application, which could range over a variety of different engineering disciplines and physics.

Pre-Sales Engineering
• Demonstrate use of the COMSOL® software and summarize its features in web-based workshops and other marketing and sales events and customer meetings.
• Work together with current and prospective customers on simulations of their applications through initial evaluation periods of the COMSOL® software.
• Willingness and the statuary ability to travel for limited periods of time in order to run COMSOL-sponsored events and activities in North and South America.

Training and Mentoring
• Develop your technical and simulation knowledge and abilities through working with sales and support cases as well as in cooperation with other applications engineers.
• Run introductory training courses and application-specific courses where you have expertise.
• Develop and mentor new applications and sales engineers on the COMSOL® software and its uses in certain application areas.

Minimum Qualifications

• A master’s degree in an engineering field, physics, applied mathematics, or a physical science.
• Excellent communication skills on the phone, in person, and in writing.
• Current eligibility to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

• A PhD in an engineering field, physics, applied mathematics, or a physical science or at least six or more months of experience in simulating projects at a commercial company or governmental research facility, or in a research project at a university.

While working with customers, prospects, other applications engineers, and developers, your technical and simulation proficiencies will grow to encompass many engineering and scientific disciplines. You will work with many and varied applications every day, and see cutting-edge new technologies in the making. You will be provided and expected to utilize large amounts of autonomy in your workplace and how you apply yourself to the problem-solving required for this position.
