Systems - Help Desk Administrator (H/F)

COMSOL France is seeking a full-time Help Desk Administrator to join our global IT team in our Grenoble office. The candidate will assist in maintaining desktop, laptop and some server class machines for the France-based office, as well as foreign offices, when needed. The daily routine will consist of both help desk and system administration duties focused around best practices and overall improvement of the current infrastructure. Proven experience in the help desk/system administration field is required. This position will report to the local Branch Manager and Global IT Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide internal technical computer support for the France offices, consisting of various operating systems such as Windows, Mac and Linux.
  • Maintain patch management across all corporate managed systems.
  • Administer backup infrastructure supporting possibly one of the following platforms Windows, Linux, Mail & other required systems.
  • Remote access support: VPN, Remote Desktop and VNC.
  • Maintain and update phone systems.
  • Windows system builds imaging and automation.
  • Manage system alerts and notifications appropriately, and respond accordingly through service tickets.
  • Maintain and manage Antivirus and good security practices across all managed systems.
  • Proficient in security and security best practices such as firewalls, IPSec and network infrastructure methodologies.
  • IT support relating to issues with the internal systems and network infrastructure.
  • System documentation and consulting services to include system reviews and recommendations.
  • Maintain inventory and make sure an appropriate number of spare machines are requisitioned.
  • Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages.

  • Other duties as assigned by local management and Global IT Manager.


  • University degree in Computer Science or equivalent training.
  • Excellent English and French speaking and writing. English over the phone with native english speakers is a requirement.
  • 1-2 years proficiency in Linux.
  • 1-2 years of Windows experience, specifically with Windows Server and Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory design and methodologies and best practices.
  • Analytical/technical mindset with willingness to think outside the box for the solution.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, teamwork, and issue resolution.
  • Accountable, with a problem-solving mindset, highly self-motivated and self-directed.
