Structural Mechanics Developer

COMSOL is seeking a mechanical engineer or physicist to join its development team in Denmark, Sweden, or India. You will be part of our international structural mechanics development team. We are looking for an individual with a strong background in rotordynamics, finite element analysis, and solid mechanics. Experience in one or more of the following areas would provide a useful qualification:

  • Rotordynamics
  • Tribology
  • General structural dynamics and multibody dynamics
  • Use of COMSOL Multiphysics or other commercial finite element software

As development projects often include interaction with experts in other areas such as acoustics, fluid mechanics, and electromagnetism, a broad overview of various physics fields is an advantage. Most of the development is done using our own tools, the Physics Builder and the Application Builder, but we also use Java and C/C++.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Implement new functionality in existing and new products
  • Maintain the code base
  • Write specifications for new functionality and GUI design
  • Assist the global support and sales departments with challenging modeling problems
  • Develop example models and apps
  • Write technical documentation

Requirements

  • Ph.D. with excellent merits. Continuum mechanics and tribology are suitable specializations. A candidate with a M. Sc. degree and exceptional merits can also be considered.
  • A background in rotordynamics, including supporting structures such as bearings, seals, couplings, and housings
  • Ability to quickly grasp new scientific topics
  • Interest in numerical simulations
  • Interest and talent for developing well-structured code
  • Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written

COMSOL Offers

  • A challenging opportunity to expand your knowledge in a wide variety of physics application areas, and to work on problems spanning all engineering fields.
  • Working in highly creative and qualified teams with a diversity of experience.
  • Casual atmosphere in our offices located in Stockholm, Lyngby, or Bengaluru.
