Magnetic diffusion in copper

Dear all, Well, I have some trouble with induced currents by an external magnetic field. Let's say I want to calculate the induced currents and associated magnetic field in a rod (300mm long, 40mm diameter) subject to a ramping field (transverse) of 0.1T/s. If I model the rod alone and apply the external magnetic field as boundary condition (or as reduced field condition), the calculation converges, but of course, I don't take into acount the demagnetization effect of the rod induced currents on itself. If I add a layer of "air" around it, and apply the ramping field at the boundary of the air domain, the calculation fails to converge (Failed to find initial values, Matrix has zero on diagonal). Any other attempt at other boundary conditions (perfect mag. cond. / mag. insul / reduced field etc...) has failed. Has anyone had this type of problem? I'll soon give illustrations of the 2 models (the one that converges and the other). Best, and thanks!
