Interpolation between points using a COMSOL App
Application ID: 34491
This App will fit a surface through a set of points using Radial Basis Functions and will write out a COMSOL-format file of a smooth NURBS surface that passes through all of the points. The function describing the surface can also be written to a text file. The point data is read in from comma-delimited file and thin-plate spline radial basis functions are used to fit the surface. Up to 5000 points can be used in this demonstration application.
This app is explained in detail in the following blog post: Using Radial Basis Functions for Surface Interpolation.
This application example illustrates applications of this type that would nominally be built using the following products:
however, additional products may be required to completely define and model it. Furthermore, this example may also be defined and modeled using components from the following product combinations:
The combination of COMSOL® products required to model your application depends on several factors and may include boundary conditions, material properties, physics interfaces, and part libraries. Particular functionality may be common to several products. To determine the right combination of products for your modeling needs, review the Specification Chart and make use of a free evaluation license. The COMSOL Sales and Support teams are available for answering any questions you may have regarding this.
